Are you and your students on an emotional rollercoaster? Student mental health is at an all-time low. Recent studies show a 300% increase in pediatric mental health emergencies in recent years, and this has expanded exponentially since the COVID-19 pandemic. Student reactivity is eroding learning and foundational functioning. Is there anything you can do? Yes! In this half-day presentation with mental health clinician/school psychologist Tim Halphide, you will learn to navigate unseen emotional landmines hidden in everyday school activities that result in blow-ups and blow-outs. Learn simple, skill-based strategies that can immediately improve affective regulation and help kids get back on track. You'll also learn what to avoid. Social-emotional strategies don't necessarily involve tricky emotional unloading, but instead focuses on skill acquisition, problem solving, coping, and taking steps to reduce stress. Find the center point and step off the rollercoaster!
