Prepare for a Training
After a training topic and date is confirmed, the sponsoring agency is responsible for:
- Assigning a contact person responsible for coordinating with the Diagnostic Center training coordinator.
- Securing a training site that can accommodate the expected audience size for in-person sessions.
- Creating and distributing a flyer at least six weeks before the training. See Sample Training Flyer (DOCX).
- Advertising the training.
- Meeting the minimum attendance requirement (at least 20).
- Duplicating handout packets for all participants (request a master copy of the handout package from the training coordinator at least two weeks before the training date).
- Ensuring all participants receive the links to download handout materials for electronic distribution.
- Assigning an administrator or designee to attend the training for greeting/registering participants and introducing the presenter.
- Providing necessary audio-visual equipment and support.
- Disseminating evaluation forms and submitting them to the presenter at the conclusion of in-person trainings.
- Distributing "Certificates of Completion" at the end of in-person trainings.
Note: While it is not required, providing lunch on-site for full day workshops is greatly appreciated. It ensures a timely resumption of the training after the lunch break.
A "Certification of Completion" is available upon request of the sponsoring agency for dissemination to participants at the conclusion of the workshop. The Diagnostic Center is also a Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board approved continuing professional development provider.
We strongly recommend that, as appropriate, and if space is available, the sponsoring agency ensures that neighboring school districts, general and special education staff, administrators, parents, and community agencies (Mental Health, Regional Centers, etc.), are invited and/or welcome to attend workshops presented by Diagnostic Center staff.
Cost
There is no cost for our professional development services. However, sponsoring agencies are responsible for duplication of handout materials, securing the training site, and advertising the workshop.
