Frustrated by writing yet another behavior intervention plan for the same student with an emotional disability? It's not a failure in practice—it's often a mismatch between intervention and psychosocial need. Many persistent behavioral challenges stem from deeply embedded internal working models—the cognitive and emotional frameworks through which students interpret themselves, others, and the world around them. These internal schemas shape how students engage with school, relationships, and even discipline and support systems. In this session, school psychologist and mental health clinician Tim Halphide will unpack how these internal models develop and how to address them through matched treatment planning techniques. Drawing from the foundational work of Erickson, Bowlby, Ainsworth, Winnicott, and others, this training explores how educators and support staff can leverage knowledge of psychosocial stages, attachment theory, and Trauma Informed practices to design more effective, developmentally-matched supports. You'll walk away with clarity and skill-based strategies that are aligned with students' social-emotional readiness, promoting stronger engagement, regulation, and growth. Matching the right intervention to the right stage isn't just clinical—it's transformative. Is it really just a phase? Join us and find out.
