Do you work with students who struggle with following directions, understanding what's being read/discussed in class, or have a hard time putting their thoughts into words to express ideas? Want to help students with comprehension and expression, but you aren't a speech-language pathologist, and don't know how? If so, this training is for you! Come learn how and why to support language development in the classroom based on area of difficulty.
Intended Audience
Paraeducators, teachers, and support staff working with students with learning disabilities, mild to moderate support needs, and language difficulties
Participants Will
- Gain an overview of language disorders, learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disability, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and their impact on comprehension and verbal expression.
- Learn practical ways to support receptive and expressive language in the classroom and throughout the school day.
- Engage in case study discussions and identification of appropriate strategies.
